Since you don't know, or donn't recall who it was, how can you be so sure they were on the Left? Ponder this: Gary Cooper played Roark in the movie version of "Fountainhead". He also appeared as a friendly witness before HUAC where he denounced the leftists in Hollywood.

How anyone that has read the Communist Manifesto can think that Ayn Rand was something other than a communist agent is beyond me. Have you read it? If so how does Ayn Rand's brand of capitalism compare to the one that Marx predicted would fail?
|
Read it in college about a half century ago. Please don't quiz me.
Perhaps Rand read Marx, accepted his characterization of capitalism's nature but rejected his conclusions. That's certainly possible and, perhaps more likely than an elaborate conspiracy.
And wasn't it in Das Kapital that Marx predicted the collapse of the capitalist system?

I predict the collapse of the autonomous collective, to be replaced with the anarcho-syndicalist commune.

That's right! I forgot all about the Kenyan Nazi Mullatto from Hawaii by way of the dreaded Chicago, wherein he and his pastor chummed about with Communists, antiColonials, '60s radicals, Islamist terrorists and known homosexuals to rid the world of the racially impure, non-Atheists and quee-----

Boreas,
I have not read Das Kapital so I can't comment on that book. The Communist Manifesto does, however, lay out a scenario under which capitalism fails.
Also, it does not take "an elaborate conspiracy" to publish propaganda. The author is the only person that has to know the agenda. The rest of the people, such as Gary Cooper, the staff at the Ayn Rand Institute, and Tea Partiers, can be useful idiots.

Again, why do you believe it was the left that got Rand into Hollywood or, since you believe her to have been a Soviet plant, is the left's participation simply a given?

Okay, we're back where we started. The Hollywood left was involved if and only if Rand was a Soviet agent. If she was not a plant, and her "philosophy" can be taken at face value, then she's more likely to have received assistance from far right militant anti-communists who saw in Objectivism the antithesis of Marxism.
Known facts support the latter conclusion.

Who would be the alleged "far right militant anti-communists" in 1929 Hollywood that would hire a Soviet that was marketing an atheist philosophy?
