Rightwinger "Entitlement"...........
A friend of mine, Ed, retired Navy and a staunch Republican took his family and his wifes kids from a previous marriage, six people in all to Golden Corral last night.
Golden Corral offers a 10% Military discount. Today, Ed was outraged because Golden Corral had only discounted the 10% from his meal and not the entire bill.
He is posting this whiney crap all over Facebook, emailing politicians and repeatedly phoning Golden Corral headquarters in North Carolina. He believes they OWE him the greater discount for his "...service to this great country."..............
As you have probably figured out, I am having a BALL with this.
Can you count the ways?
Regards,
Dave

You could give me a 100% discount to eat there and I still wouldn't go.
Why is it that it's mostly Republicans who want to rub their military service in your face?

All I can guess is that it's some sort of he-man need to be adored for facing the tribes enemies? What gets me is it's the same whether the guy (Or gal.) fought hand to hand in the jungles of Vietnam or sat behind a desk, stateside for twenty years.....wingnut veterans seem to demand to have rose petals thrown at their feet and recieve undying adoration regardless.
I don't think like they do, so I don't understand it either. I did my bit, and I expect nothing. I consider any thanks I get as a small bonus someone extended me of their own free will.
Regards,
Dave

They think it makes them "more American".

No citation, just personal experience. Conservatives tend to wear their military service, patriotism, and religion on their sleeves, as well as their fealty to the notion of American exceptionalism.
IMHO, it's perfectly OK to hold any belief whatsoever in any of these areas. To wear it overtly on one's sleeve for political purposes is another issue though.
Similarly, even though I support gay rights, I find overt "gayness" where gays flaunt their sexuality off-putting.
Believe what you want. Don't rub my face in it.

OK, thanks for the explanation.
