The chassis is and the casing is ground for the multicans. I left mine in place and added new 'lytics underneath, grounding them to the chassis in the same area as the old. A tag strip really is the way to go for mounting the new separate lytics underneath. Personally, I would do it soon, if the old lytics in the can go they'll probably take out a output or two.
