The fiscal cliff was a way for Congress to not take any heat before the election. What a bunch of feckless cowards.

As far as Chambliss goes he did the right thing, but is still pond scum in my eyes due to the reason mentioned above.

As I have said before, I never voted for Norquist or any of the scumbag lobbyist that control my life. Something really needs to change, and we are the only ones that can do it.

I don't know anything about the Senator. I'm just glad that he had the knees to walk away from Nordquist.

Super Grover is toast, watch the rest of the rats leave the sinking ship.

Chambliss smeared Max Cleland, in attack ads that linked him to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein In the Georgia race in 2002 claiming he was not a strong enough leader and did not support Bush. The attack ads were so odious that even John McCain and other Republican veterans complained about them.

Did I mention Max Cleland is a decorated war hero who left both his legs and one arm on the battlefield in Vietnam.

Chambliss hid behind student deferments and was classified 1-y because of a "football" injury effectively keeping him from serving his country like a lot of Republican chikenhawks of that era.

Also, Georgia was the first state to go to 100% Diebold electronic voting machines. During the election the CEO of Diebold personally delivered new memory cards, to be placed in certain machines, in various counties around the state to correct "timing errors".

In a virtually impossible scenario Cleland saw his 5% lead evaporate into a 7% loss which is a 12% swing in a few hours. Like I said before, statistically this is a very strange flip in the numbers.

And now, because he has worked with Mark Warner (a <<gasp>> Democrat) on a debt reduction plan that may include tax increases and because he seems open to the idea of comprehensive immigration reform, it looks like he'll get teabagged in the 2014 primary.

Looks like another pickup for the Dems. Maybe Cleland will run again!

There would be a certain poetic justice there.

And now there are 4 Senators that are renouncing the Norquist pledge. Unfortunately, these are Senators and the Fiscal Cliff negotiations are pretty much between the President and Boehner. No House members have thus far told Norquist to take a flying leap ... yet.

One of the republicans listed in the article is King, a representative from NY. They have use weasel language in their "backing off," however. They still say they oppose rate increases, but want to do it with deductions - like in the plan that Mitt lost on.

The Morning Joe had an interesting take on increasing capital gains rates.
