Congress' Craven BS

I know this may be asking a lot, but watch the first 11 minutes of this - Jon Stewart's take on Congress' fecklessness on a recent bill for health care for 9/11 responders. Talk about a bunch of gutless MoFo's.

You can drag the bar to 1:10 to get to the good stuff and watch less than 10 minutes. I know it's a lot to ask to link to 10:00 minutes of video, but it's pretty telling stuff.

saw a little of that on MSNBC this morning

It makes me want to "give up"

it's good to know that guns will be spared in a bankruptcy though

I'm gonna call my congress person and tell them that they are just fuckin' terrible.

Look like the Dems used the issue to make the GOP look bad. If it was so important why didn't they make a stand? Pocpocpoc pkuawk!

True enough. I don't know what looks worse, the Republicans' callousness or the Democrats' gutlessness. Actually, in this instance I'd vote for the gutlessness being worse. If one is too gutless to expose callousness, that's gutless indeed.

Except in this case the Dems exposed Republican callousness through their own gutlessness. I think the calculus is sort of a "See what happens when Republicans get their way?" You could argue that this demonstrates callousness on the part of Democrats too and I'd not object.

Yeh, but the whole 2/3 vote thing instead of a majority because they're fearful the GOP will win the ensuing message war in the fall is too lame for words. Either the immigrant first responders deserve compensation or they don't. Pick a side and fight for it.

The only way to stand up to blowhard bullies is to fight back, not cower before them. The Dems need to learn to fight the message war. Depending on Jon Stewart to do it for them is weak indeed.
