Palestine was almost always a third world country, which does not mean they do not have some amenities.

The West has a saying "God looks after those who look after themselves" I have no idea if there is an equivalent in the Mid-east, but if you kneel and pray five times a day I doubt muchly that you are going to get any work done.

Turkey is flexing its muscles, note the deal between Turkey, Brazil (there is another one) and Ahmadinijad. No one asked them to stick their noses in, and what they came up with was laughable. The nine who were killed were members of an "Aid Agency" whose creds are debatable, some think they only aid and abet terrorists.

Much of all this goes back to the League of Nations and the British Mandate to provide a home for the Jews in what was partially their own homeland to begin with. Surely no one believes thre Diaspora was voluntary.

Balfour divided the mandate lands into what is now Israel, gave the west bank to the Hashemite Kings as Jordan (except no one called them the "Occupiers"_handel the Golan Heights to Syria and then asked the Arabs to co-exist with the Jews. The Arab response was a loud "Hell No" and that's when it all hit the fan. At first Balfour sided with the Jews, then they changed their mind so Jews arriving to settle wound up in detention camps on Cyprus.

Certainly there were extremists on both sides, but there was no attempt at co-existence. A little remembered fact was that the Jews bought what land they built on, frex all of Tel Aviv. Then of course came the series of wars and ill will we see today, but just remember, it takes two to Tango.
