I'm sure the free market will help these folks

Sometimes the cracks in the system are more like canyons. Here is a story about volunteers scratching the surface.

Don, Don, Don, don't you know if these folks don't have dental care it's because they are too dumb and unmotivated to go get their own? Why do you just want give things away to people who have done nothing to deserve it?

I have a toothache - will you pay for it?

Welfare folks in Ohio have fantastic dental.

Perhaps you missed it, that dental clinic was all volunteers, taxpayers did not contribute a dime.

I paid for my own gin and tonic. And I paid tax (sales) on tax (alcohol) on tax (income) in order to do so.

I'd be more inclined to pull a few bucks out of my hip pocket and help a slob out if Big Brother wasn't already forcing me to do so at the point of a gun.

maybe the answer is for you also to have it rather than taking it away from the poor? What do you think?

Chas, you mentioned how much you earned in a post recently, why all the worries about taxes? As my dad used to tell me when I started to earn a healthy living and I would bitch, "Be happy you are making enough that you have to pay all that tax."

I suppose if I made a great deal of money, the percentage wouldn't matter as much. I assume that you bore with a bigger auger.

BTW, you dad was right.
