Let me offer a guess.

I think Painter is suggesting that perhaps Nixon and Tailgunner Joe may have been pricks...but they did shine a light on a lot of Commies.

This guy should have never been released. We are in need of a HUA right now. I am thinking we look weak and vulnerable to other countries.
