Bitcoin futures trading begins on CBOE exchange.

Bitcoin futures trading began on Sunday on the CBOE exchange in Chicago, allowing investors to bet on its rise and fall.

I am intrigued by the legitimacy now given to Bitcoin.

It's a legitimate bubble. The things can suck you in. Then it's psychologically very hard to get out--you are so delighted by the huge paper gains that you become very adverse to losing 'further gains.' So the profit is never taken, and finally the crash comes....

If you want to ride a bubble, a rule-based system might work. Take half or more of the profit out every time the investment goes up x%. Decide to do this, some fixed percentage, make it the a rule. Then do it, without reopening the decision. Then when the crash comes, you'll be real money ahead, a big gain over your original stake. You'll loose a lot of paper profit, but that was always going to happen.

I was wondering why would the powers that be give legal play to Bitcoin since others might want to use it to circumvent the dollar.

That bubble burst, making it legitimate.
