Ryan and McConnell have accomplished nothing so far. Time for a revolt by their party? Maybe they will finally see that their hard right turn was the wrong turn...

Jennifer Rubin:

It’s hard to tell whether Trump intends to undercut his own party or is just so clueless that at any given moment he will agree to whatever is put in front of him, provided he is favorably disposed at that moment to the person making the proposal. It is actions like today’s that suggest Trump will never achieve more complex legislative agenda items (such as tax reform). He’s entirely unreliable and easily hoodwinked to undercut Republicans’ objectives.
I vote for clueless.

Generally a safe bet, but what accounts for him going to North Dakota to campaign for (Democratic) Senator Heidi Heitkamp who McConnell has been trying desperately to unseat in 2018?

Or he's trying to prove he can play checkers with the grownups out of spite.

Here is a pretty good synopsis about Trump by a Republican operative, after the deal Trump cut with Dems on hurricane Harvey relief and short term increase of the debt ceiling.
Quote:
“It makes all of their normalizing and ‘Trumpsplaining’ look silly and hollow,” said Rick Wilson, a Republican strategist sharply critical of Trump, referring to his party’s congressional leaders. “Trump betrays everyone: wives, business associates, contractors, bankers and now, the leaders of the House and Senate in his own party. They can’t explain this away as [a] 15-dimensional Trump chess game. It’s a dishonest person behaving according to his long-established pattern.”

US is a very large country. Expect different shades in pronunciation from its people.

Bush had a hard time with "nuclear".
