Because a Ukraine victory, aided by a coalition of western nations that Biden helped form, would be a massive geopolitical victory for Biden (particularly when compared to Trump's shameful blackmailing of Zelensky over defensive weapons).

The Russians had their asses handed to them on a plate in Afghanistan by a comparatively ragtag pack of Mujahideen war lords. And it was a major contributing factor in the fall of the Communist bloc. Putin is terrified that a loss in Ukraine will end up the same way for him. Which makes this thing worth every penny it costs us. It's just too bad that the cost is so high for Ukrainians. But not a cost as high as a Russian victory.

Just one more thing about this. The Republican members of Congress, who are insisting that funds to Ukraine end because Zelensky and Ukraine leadership are all nazis, are fucking traitors. They're not guilty of treason because their behavior doesn't fulfill the criteria for treason, but they are traitorous scum. And at this point, anybody who votes for any Republican for anything is a goddamn traitor as well. If these vote whoring politicians aren't actual MAGA, or actual members of the Congressional Freedom Caucus, they are at least looking the other way, and they're no better. A legitimate argument can be made that they're the worse sort of vote whores...worse than MAGA/Freedom Caucus vote whores.
