$400 Billion F-35 grounded
DoD's entire fleet of latest whizbang fighter, the F-35, has been grounded due to cracked turbine blades. This comes on the heels of the F-22 having been discovered to have caused hypoxia in its pilots, rendering them useless at high altitudes and combat. And this follows a recent discovery that Congress wants to buy 280 additional M1 tanks, despite having several thousand on mothballs in the desert. And we're concerned about cutting the military budget?

While B-52, F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 airframes are getting old, they work and are much less expensive.
The cost benefit is to, by price, have ten of them versus 1 whiz bang plane with issues...

Canadian Forces are revisiting the entire plan to buy F35's now. Over budget and under performing. We might have to keep our F-18's a bit longer, and look at some European, or even Russian options.

Maybe they are regretting Diefenbaker's killing the Arrow and sending all those aerospace engineers south.

The rest of the country does. But how would America have put a man on the moon without all the ex-Avro engineers? Hard to imagine that for a decade, Canada was the world leader in aircraft development and design.

$400 billion for a single weapons platform. That says it all and should be generating outrage all by itself.
But, no. Instead we advocate cutting so-called "entitlements" so there can be more money to dump into money pits like this.
As I have said many times, we will starve the people to feed the MIC.
Maintain defense? If we keep this up, eventually this country won't be worth defending.
Ike was right.
Sickening.

Easy to see where some of them wound up,look at the Arrow and the F-15 Eagle and you will see a lot of similarities.

I'd sure like to know who we would use these against. At least in the numbers they say they need.

Cept the F15 was a step down in performance from the Arrow. At least the first version with the F100 engine. Basically it took the US 20 years to catch up with this:
