"A stunning victory."

As far as I've been able to determine there has not been a peep outta the usual suspects around here about the recent elections in Israel. Reckon what that's all about?

Quote:
(CNN)Israel's ruling Likud Party pulled off a victory in Tuesday's election -- and it was a stunning one. During the campaign, incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had come in for heavy criticism from across the political spectrum, for reasons ranging from concerns over his frosty relationship with the White House, to his fixation on the Iran nuclear issue, to allegations over Netanyahu's household expenses. Yet despite this unpromising backdrop, Likud is on course to win 30 seats in the Knesset.
Why? Because they know that, American aid notwithstanding, they're in this on their own. Nobody's gonna send any flesh and blood to fight by their side. Kuwait...yep. Afghanistan...sure. Iraq...of course. Israel...fuck no. Not much of anybody outside of the international community of Jews gives a shit in Yasser Arafat's hat if Israel were over-run tomorrow by a million sacrificial Iranians in one of their insane suicide charges. And it's pretty goddamn stupid as Israel is the only democracy for thousands of miles in the region...and the only country where we won't be seeing some sick Islamic religious fanatic funding suicide squads to sneak over here and blow a few more thousand of us to shreds.

So it appears that Israelis have decided that the rest of their world can take their Zionism=racism and their disapproval of Benjamin Netanyahu and stuff it. Well done.

I'd suggest the reason that there hasn't been a discussion of the Israeli election is that you, Ike, have totally stifled any discussion on the subject and you did it with posts like the above. Your position, in advance of any discussion, is that anyone who adopts a position at odds with your own is an anti-Zionist, anti-Semitic terrorist lover. What the fuck is the point of trying to have a discussion that has been preempted by that kind of horse shit?

So, go fuck yourself

I made an offer in the Schock thread. And another in the Ferguson redux thread. That's all the goodwill I have available for you. Your choice.

There are other issues in Israel, but when it comes down to it this is what every Israeli is thinking when they go into the voting booth. They've decided that Netanyahu give them the best odds for surviving. Good for them.

Yet Netanyahu invited the Jews of Europe to emigrate to Israel so they'd be safe.

Also, the rhetoric that Netanyahu used on the eve of the election, no two state solution, more illegal settlements and race baiting the Israeli Arabs, is virtually guaranteed to further entrench attitudes and polarize the two sides. The net result, of course, is to make Israel less safe, not safer.

Meh, judging by all the haserai surrounding Bibi giving the POTUS the one fingered salute, Bibi seems to be hurting Israel more than helping, imho.

Bibi and his free spending wife remind me of a former governor of Virginia at this point.

That would be your opinion. Obviously Israelis are aware of all the points you make and yet they have another...and whether anybody else happens to like it, or not, theirs is the opinion that matters. As it should be.

And the opinion or the people of the United States whether they wish to continue to subsidize the militant approach of Likud, as expressed on the eve of the election, would be the only opinion that matters on the future expenditure of tax dollars.

Regards,

D-Ray

Replace Israeli with German and Netanyahu with Hitler?

GODWIN'S LAW MELTDOWN.

But it does point out how embarrassingly stupid (per usual) Ike's pseudo argument is...
