Netflix

Hay, has anyone else noticed a sudden inflation in the 'red star ratings' that supposedly are Netflix's prediction of what you'll like? Mine seem to have jumped 1 star across the board. May be an attempt to get people to watch more of the second and third-rate junk that is the bulk of Netflix's streaming offerings.

Don't know as the idea of watching movies on a 17" screen went along with our very first TV set - a 19" black and white Admiral.

Nowadays, Netflix streaming is clearly trying to reposition themselves as a 'TV provider,' not a 'movie provider.'

Might end up being neither.

i don't understand why all tv programming is not delivered via stream

it's redundant to have both cable television and internet streaming

Oh--just figured out you're talking about watching Netflix on the computer monitor. I never do that. Netflix in on the big TV--you just need for your TV to be able to receive off the Internet. "Smart TVs" do this, or an external device can do interface duties.

No idea how 'smart' our big Sony is as it still uses a Trinitron tube but does have an HDMI interface along with seven other RGB interfaces.

I have one too.

However it is not smart enough for Netflix.

Smart ones are those with in built circuits for Netflix capability.

Since you have HDMI, I believe you just need to plug in the CHROMECAST
device available from Amazon, Target etc.

My red stars are usally one or two out of five at the most and I never, ever use them as a guide...the members reviews are much better indications but sometimes contain spoilers. It may be because I rent stuff like Bridesheads Revisited and Japanese movies by Miike.

Chromecast is one option. Here's an overview of some others: http://www.cnet.com/topics/media-str...dia-streamers/
