few of us would philosophically

That is another reason I liked Ted Kennedy, he was at more funerals after 911 than any other congressional representative.

Yes I would.

What is wrong with the POTUS being seen "recieving", (For lack of a better term.), our nations fallen soldiers? I think it's about time we had a President that did. Theatrical? Perhaps. I'll even grant you that it may have been a bit much. But no more theatrical than all of the flagwaiving and hoopla that takes place at the during such conflicts, IMO.

I personally believe it is High Time we had leaders who aren't afraid to tell the American people that war isn't all guts and glory. That among the dead and injured in any conflict will be our own children. It amazes me that so many have yet to learn this lesson despite all of the grievous losses of the last century.

To sum it up.

I would rather have a President who has the balls to show our dead arriving home, than one who insists on sweeping them under the rug 'cuz it might make him look bad.

Commence to hating me. I really don't care.

Dave

I don't hate you dude, but you just made my point in a round about way. Bush was never seen doing things like that right? So, he must have been sweeping them under the rug right? Do some checking on how many families of fallen US soldiers Bush visited with (face to face) during his presidency. I think you will be surprised.

All politicians love theatrics. Pulling that shit as bodies come home is just plain bad. Some poor slob got killed for his country and grandstanding it is
one of the worse offenses in my book.

Grandstanding.

Grumpy, you've said it all.

I've never stood in there with 'em, and I'm too embarased to stand on the sidelines and cheer for 'em.

I'm not worthy to play it either way.

But I do have the up most respect for those who have.

And I have NO respect for a cheap assed politician playing it both ways. Whoever he is.

You, Sir, have a point.

IMHO, Shrub forgot more about honoring veterans than Obama will ever suspect.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

It's not that I hate you, I just think that you may be wrong.

Sincerely,

Chas

Good for you.
