It would be interesting to know how many of the people who voted against Moore actually rejected his politics more than his hypocrisy.

Something similar occurred in Johnson County for years. JOCO is largely upscale suburban. The GOP continued to put up fringe right-wing candidates in the congressional elections, and allowed Democrats to slip in for several terms. A Republican won that seat in the 2010 "shellacking," but he is facing a credible challenge this year.
