Not so much as a political subject but it has national effects. Right now in the sky here in Maryland the Sun at sunrise is orange. This is from the smoke from the wildfires all the way on the West Coast.

After a full month of smoke, we were finally able to open the windows and turn on the whole-house fan last night. PM2.5 AQI sitting at 18 right now. Clean air!

I just got back from the Seattle area. I was visiting friends in the Bonney lake area and that is where one of the really bad fires burned for quite a while. We were blocked from using highway 410 for a while. VERY smoky. Afterward, there was a lot of charring on the side of the road on 410 and 167.

Both were arson and one of the guys, as most people know, livestreamed himself starting it. But I believe that was one of the smaller fires (the one on 167).

One thing that amazed me was that, because the pacific northwest is wetter than much of the California coast, there were a lot of evergreen trees that were only burned at the bottom, while all the brush was burned up. Only a few trees looked like they had been burned up and killed.

Miles Taylor reveals that during a round of devastating wildfires in California, President Trump "told FEMA to cut off the money" because "Californians don't do anything for me." Taylor says, "he told us to stop giving money to people whose houses burned down from a wildfire because he was so rageful that people in the state of California didn't support him and that politically it wasn't a base for him."
