I went to Lutheran school for 7th and 8th grade.
There was a list of over a hundred bible verses we were made to memorize. But I'm fascinated by some of the verses I've learned of later, that were never mentioned, let alone put on the list.
Here's a couple of weird ones I just heard about
:
Quote:
Ezekiel 20:25-26
King James Version (KJV)
25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;
26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the Lord.

25 is cute. You can't depend on the 'statutes and judgments;' if God is mad at you, he'll give you bad ones, just to fuck you up.
26 is just double weird. The standard interp is "all that opened the womb" means first-borns, and 'passed through the fire' means sacrificed to Moloch. But there are other interpretations. Danged if I can figure it all out.
It's a good thing they never asked about this one on Examination Sunday....
