Cynical, Self-Defeating Spectacle

This one phrase defines perfectly the behavior I've seen from the "disloyal opposition" since the election. I can't claim the phrase: it was used here in describing MSNBC's idiocy with the "reveal" of Trump's tax return....from 2005!

http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/...spectacle.html

Its amazing the depths that folks have sunk. Its one thing to protest and appropriately voice opposition. Its quite another thing to ratchet that up to throwing anything you can find at the wall to see if it will stick. The "Russia thing" has been an on-going example of continuing to report on a non-story. Looks like MSNBC wants to take the Prez's tax returns in that same direction.

It's hilarious how the tax thing so spectacularly and completely backfired. Not only did this remind me of Geraldo Rivera's idiotic televised venture into Al Capone's vaults, but it also continued to demonstrate the grand hypocrisy of the left. The left loves to demonize the rich as greedy folks who don't pay their taxes. Yet we find Trump - at one point accused of not paying taxes - paid taxes at a higher rate than MSNBC/Comcast (24%), higher than Obama (18.7%), and higher than Chuck Schumer (11.3%).

Just perfect, poetic justice.

Just a deflection, I figured it was Kelly Ann's work. It is lame enough, Michele and Sarah must be real proud. Yep, it is as phony and disingenuous any other stunt our POTUS has ever done.

I have a one word answer for you, Benghazi. How many years, how many millon$ and how many hearings was it?

If you really believe there is nothing behind the Russian connections why did Flynn resign and Sessions recuse himself, especially with both the Senate and the House under GOP control?

As for Trump and taxes, nothing is really known except this one leaked two page return which I believe was leaked by team Trump. There was an earlier leaked one too. If all is up and up, why the non-disclosure?

It's like asking me to trust a crook because he has not been caught.

Quite different, actually, so yours is a false analogy.

The difference here, if course, is that Obama, Clinton and Rice lied about Benghazi for weeks afterward, so they own that one.

The "lying" about Trump's taxes or the campaign's "affiliation with the Russians" isn't coming from the White House. The folks keeping those story alive is the left and their friends in the media. They own those stories as well.

I bet HRC released those 2 useless 1040 pages as a deflection for Ryan's Medi-Kill bill.

It does have Trump's signature "all fluff and no stuff" though.

Really? Then why weren't they prosecuted?
The entire Benghazi hearings was a GOP charade orchestrated by Issa.

And as far a lying goes....wonder you even brought up that word.

BTW, don't you think it's suspicious that just one two page tax return was leaked?

LOL!

A culture of paranoia is consuming the Trump administration, with staffers increasingly preoccupied with perceived enemies — inside their own government.

In interviews, nearly a dozen White House aides and federal agency staffers described a litany of suspicions: that rival factions in the administration are trying to embarrass them, that civil servants opposed to President Donald Trump are trying to undermine him, and even that a “deep state” of career military and intelligence officials is out to destroy them.

Aides are going to great lengths to protect themselves. They’re turning off work-issued smartphones and putting them in drawers when they arrive home from work out of fear that they could be used to eavesdrop. They’re staying mum in meetings out of concern that their comments could be leaked to the press by foes.

Many are using encrypted apps that automatically delete messages once they’ve been read, or are leaving their personal cellphones at home in case their bosses initiate phone checks of the sort that press secretary Sean Spicer deployed last month to try to identify leakers on his team.

It’s an environment of fear that has hamstrung the routine functioning of the executive branch. Senior advisers are spending much of their time trying to protect turf, key positions have remained vacant due to a reluctance to hire people deemed insufficiently loyal, and Trump’s ambitious agenda has been eclipsed by headlines surrounding his unproven claim that former President Barack Obama tapped his phone lines at Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign.

One senior administration aide, who like most others interviewed for this story spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the degree of suspicion had created a toxicity that is unsustainable.

There are powerful anti Russians in both parties.

Flynn and Sessions got caught reacting to the anti Russian atmosphere.

And then there is Trump who would expose himself as a Russian agent if he actually did release his actual and complete 1040's.

It seems Trump scored a point with his distracting leak last night. Good for him. Then dawn broke and he still has multiple shit-storms to face.
