What's wrong with this sentence?

"I filed today my paperwork to seek the office of the presidency of the United States today."

Michele Bachmann

There's an extra today..

Also makes the phrasing ackward.

Look even DeNiro flubs a line once in awhile.. Are doing spell check on the candidates too?

I would expect that, if you're going to be on national TV & announce your candidacy, you'd make sure that it #1: was something remotely memorable & #2: phrased correctly.

T'were I...it would've been: "I took a very large step for our great country today. I filed all the paperwork needed to formally announce my candidacy for President of the United States."

Maybe not memorable in the "I regret I have but one life to give for my country" regard...but to the point & well-said.

Ms Bachmann's apparent problem is that even though she's a college graduate, as well as a graduate of some sketchy law school, she is absolutely incapable of making a coherent statement on ANYTHING. Right down ther w/Ms Palin in the smarts department.

And...if Robert DeNiro flubs a line...the director just calls for a retake. No such animal in live TV.

No it is not. This woman is going to go all-out & try to bamboozle the GOP into handing her the nomination...then the bamboozling REALLY gets going. She is truly dangerous with her attempts to cram her version of morality down our collective throats. Bachmann won't be happy until the US is effectively a theocracy. And, we all know just how great theocracies work, don't we??

Great avatar..

Tell me exactly what your fear is.. That she'll mention God at the State of the Union address? Exclude all gays from her administration? Cancel abortion services for the White House staff med coverage? Leave the Christmas lights up all year at the White House?

What the worse things that she would have the power to do?

Because I've got no choice. I ain't got a party to support. Might have to vote for her.

BTW: it's a somewhat rhetorical question because I'm more afraid of Santorum...

To begin with: I don't believe there should be ANY mention of God when government's involved. We're stuck with what's in the Declaration of Independence & the Constitution...but any further mention just doesn't belong. Religion should be a private, personal matter...and should have no bearing on what government does or does not do.

Gays are equal citizens under the law...and should be afforded all rights any other citizen enjoys. If you're not in favor of abortion...don't have one. If you choose to believe that the universe was created in 7 days (despite all evidence to the contrary)...fine. Believe it. If you believe cavemen rode dinosaurs...go ahead. If you refuse to accept global climate change as fact...go ahead & roast.. DO NOT push your so-called morals or "divine knowledge" down MY throat...that's a sure guarantee of strong resistance.

First words out of that misguided idiot's mouth (after tossing her chapeau into the ring) were that, if President, she would not rest until "Obamacare" was repealed. A great way to start off an administration, hmmm? To hell with job losses, mendacious, rapacious bankers & industrialists, oil companies that have us by the short & curlys...gotta get rid of that "socialist" medical plan!! Bachmann (or any other potential GOP candidate) wouldn't know socialism if it smacked them in the face.

Bachmann's an embarrassment to the great state of Minnesota...a state that has produced true statesmen such as Frank B. Kellogg, Harold Stassen, Hubert Humphrey and Eugene McCarthy. She's just a small-time pol blinded by religion & twisted Tea Party ethics. But...the great unwashed will think she's "hot" & "she's talkin' MY language" and blindly march off to the polls.

You certainly went beyond the requested "religious" threat. That's another story.

I'm not buying a link between Creationists and Global Warming. It just sounds good. It's science. Not only should it be divorced from religion -- It should f'in be divorced from politics and govt and UN bodies intent of using it for wealth redistribution.

I'm also not buying that our Constitution protects you from being exposed to Christian symbols or Jewish symbols or Moslem symbols in the public square. If you've got that much of a tolerance problem, then you're not a Liberal, you're a leftist with a grudge. How much tolerance due you have for cultural/ethnic/religious diffs? What happened to multicultural celebrations and strengthening of character due to our religious/ethnic mixture?

Should we fire the House chaplain? Remove the Bible from the oath of office? Polish the religious embellishments OFF the Supreme Court facade? NO! Not because I'm a religious nut of any kind. Because of TRADITION. And because of the fact that our Founders evoked a Higher Power than King George to justify their independence. Just like MLK did.

So --- we're really left with abortion and gay rights.. Is that it in a nutshell? Is that what really wings you out? And you want me to believe that those issues are more threatening than all our OTHER economic and social rights? YUP .. they are important. In fact, I'm pro-choice on everything. Oher than keeping Fed Dollars out of abortion, there's not much a prez can do to screw that up. In fact, other than an executive order affecting FED employees, the prez needs Congress to stop any money.

Showing any personal predjudice towards gays in her admin would be political suicide for the whole party. THat's not gonna happen.

So do I want an executive branch that doesn't have a single person with a business background in high position? One that wants to define my lightbulbs, toilets, insurance, and liquor and everything else.

Or do I take my chances on Santa Claus making an appearance in the West Wing?

Which is a bigger threat?
