Michael Connelly - The Wrong Side of Goodbye: A Bosch Novel

Read by Titus Welliver

Nothing beats listening to Bosch to shorten the long drive to LA.

I don't listen to much rock these days (jazz nut), but heard this great oldie while out and about today. CCR. Has aged VERY well, so appropriate to the Grifter in Chief...

Quote:
Some folks are born, made to wave the flag
Ooh, that red, white and blue
And when the band plays, "Hail To The Chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, Lord

Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, y'all
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house look-ah like a rummage sale, yes-ah

Uh-it ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, Lord, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, Lord

Yeah, yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Ooh, they'll send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer, "More, more, more" y'all

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, son-ah
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one, y'all
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one, y'all
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no, no

Diamond in the back: CURTIS MAYFIELD
Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Gangsta whitewalls tv antennas diamond in the back
you may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
you can still stand tall

Just be thankful for what you got

Diamond in the back
Sun roof top
Digging the scene
With a gangsta lean

I just stumbled across this. It's from 1981 "Bob Welch and Friends Live at the Roxy". Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood sitting in with Welch's band, and they do Gold Dust Woman. I think it's just great...Fleetwood seems to be having the time of his life, and I'll betcha it's from the period where he and Stevie Nicks were sharing a bed.

Bob Welch And Friends Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood

If anybody's interested, the whole concert is on YouTube at:

Bob Welch And Friends Live At The Roxy 1981

And the video quality is way better.
