Argument over increasing to $2000 strikes me as likely to destroy the hard-won consensus of $600. Result: no stimulus at all, and none of the other vital provisions in the bill, the unemployment extension and rent relief, either. And remember that Trump is not out to get $2000 for everyone, he has no idea how to do that if he wanted to. $2000 is just a big rock he threw into the pool.

The $2000, whether it is Trump's or anyone else, is viewed against the backdrop of the foreign giveaway and whether that giveaway is in whatever bill.
