Without looking this up, I seem to recall that this language was part of a treaty signed by Adams. Was it from a treaty with the Barbary States?

Pretty sure Obama didn't write the Health Care bill, but don't see anyone bent out of shape every time I hear "Obamacare".

That's my point Pete. It is the same thing. I certainly do believe that Obama endorses what is in the health care bill or would not have, well, endorsed it. When a criminial confesses, they don't write the confession themselves, they sign it. And when they do, it is presented in court.

It sure looks intellectually dishonest to me. Let's redefine 'quote' as we see fit.
Or in that case, why is it attributed to the Treaty at all? Why is a Treaty different than a statement by the President? Or didn't the Treaty need the consent of the Senate back then. They ALL can be quoted saying anything in any treaty? Pete

Whatever floats your boat. There is a reason that would be attributed to the Treaty, not a direct quote by Adams.
If I found something and did the same thing you guys would not be as blase' about it. Pete
