An Apology

It’s hard to believe that I started participating this site more than 11 years ago. During that time, I became a moderator. Then I bailed. I’m sorry that I bailed and left the other moderators with more to do. More importantly, I’m sorry to the extent that some of the rhetoric I injected into this site contributed to an atmosphere lacking in civility.

There has always been great potential here, and Political Chat drew a number of participants of varying political persuasions, who in good faith sought to share their ideas, sometimes quite passionately. I’ve also seen far too many posts, unfortunately, many of them from people whose political persuasion I generally share, where the only apparent purpose is to insult those whose ideas differ from their own. As I freely admit, I have participated in that conduct as well. For that, I take responsibility.

I don’t think the vitriol we see here is the cause of the current political and social malaise we see in the news, but an untreated symptom of it. As I can find that time, I hope to participate here were frequently, and maybe actually listen. Thanks for your time.

Regards, D-Ray

I have never been upset by you and most on the site. Hope to never been the one to upset another.

Understanding and listening are needed in times like these.

The very few who are or have in the past I will let it roll off and then to ignore it.

Persons of good will, of any political persuasion, are people I try to always treat with respect. For others, depends on my mood. I apologize for any failure to contribute to a positive atmosphere and a spirit of honest and respectful exchange of views.

Most of us grow up and leave the immature sensibilities of our youth. It's been 11 years and you've matured. It happened to me as well. That was a very good post. Thanks!

Somehow missed this. As to bailing, it's no sweat Don. I have three older brothers who gleefully tossed me into the deep end of the pool all the time. I'm used to it.

Hopefully without the toxic clown president egging rightwingers on, the temperature will drift down of it's own accord or we could be in a shooting war ala bleeding Kansas 1850's come 2024? Hell if I know.

This old city mouse hippie likes the quality of the modern Henry rifle. A .45/70 looks interesting if I ever take up hunting elk but I'd rather build one of those hotrodded pair of SE tube amps and pay someone to build cabs for the pair of 604Es that are sitting on a shelf. (grin)
