Dodges the point. It's really not central how 'out there' the example is or isn't, although the 5th Avenue thing is of course Trump's own hyperbole (one hopes it's hyperbole). The point was to invite serious consideration of the proposition that the Senate is now too corrupt or cowed* to convict Trump for any actual wrongdoing. Feel free to substitute a 'more reasonable' example of your choosing, but I ask you to address that issue.

*Or perchance blackmailed, according to speculation based on the known hacking of GOP emails reuters

That may be your point now, but it wasn't then. Seems to me you are trying to back away from your Trumpenfuhrer coup theory. Regarding congressional, as well as other U.S. Government, corruption check out Parliament of Whores.

An argument from Sun Tzu suggests it's better to leave Trump, and Republicans generally, a way out.

Quote:
Those who want to defeat Trump should read the ancient Chinese strategist Sun Tzu. He said that a general should leave a route free when an enemy is surrounded. “Do not press a desperate foe too hard,” he wrote, knowing that a cornered person will fight to the death. The more people who feel cornered, the more people will disregard Trump’s statements and character to defend what they hold most dear. Until Trump’s opponents grasp this fact, nothing Trump says will do anything to weaken his support.

I am backing away from nothing.

You are deliberately misunderstanding in order to criticize. Conversation with you remains what it always is, a fight, at your insistence.

Your deliberately misunderstanding claim is a red herring.

I think you are ready to do battle with any and all who don't share your politcal POV. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

Basically, most of what I'm getting from you here is your opinion of my debate tactics (in the form of unsupported snarky observations.) You can throw all of such 'heat' you want, I am not blistered, just bored.

What does the ready under your avatar mean then?

The heat I'm referring to generates sweat, not second degree burns.

To relieve your boredom check out The Expanse. I'm not here to entertain you.

No, you're here to throw heat at me, you make no secret of your intentions. Always have been. I rubbed you the wrong way from day one. Irritate you, quite unintentionally. Guess I'm just the sort of person you don't like.

A long time ago, there was a thing happening on Political Chat where you'd say if you wanted a custom tagline, someone would change it to 'ready,' and then you'd tell them what you wanted. I got as far as the ready part, and then decided ready was as cool as anything. Could be ready for whatever, doesn't have to be ready to fight in particular. Leave it to you to take it that way.

Whatever. It would seem that you believe I've been out to get you from the start. Paranoids are the type of person I just don't like? Like how you used the us/them dynamic, but pitting me against billions is a bit much. Although bringing overwhelming force to a fight isn't necessarily a bad idea. Words that both literally and figuratively describe what's going on here (at AK and other like sites too) include debate, discuss, argue, fight and battle. I fondly remember my school days, including doing battle with other schools as a member of the Rushmore debate team.

This long time ago PC thing you're talking about must have happened in a galaxy far far away because I never made such a post, unless I was being facetious. A thread name and post # would be a nice memory jog. Regarding your readiness, do battle with is a subset of whatever.
