Well no, I just made the assumption since there's so much xenophobia in this country, and there was no other obvious motive.
Why do you ask? You have a different theory?

There's so much sickness in this story / video. First, of course, you have the attack itself. I tend to agree with Was. I suspect the attackers knew who this guy was, and what his route was. Don't know if it was "xenophobia", but I suspect they thought the guy might be an easy target. More often than not, stuff like this isn't spontaneous. It's planned.
Then you've got this:
During the Facebook Live video, as the beating continues, no one tries to help. A man walks past Bah, who is lying on the ground injured, but he never stops to help.
What the hell is wrong with people? At least try to scare the attackers away by telling them the police are coming, or something.
Third, what kind of asshole sees something like this, and decides that his cell phone is better used as a video camera and not a communication device that can be used to call the cops? How can anyone watch something like this and be content to do nothing except film it.
I don't understand how people think anymore....

I don't know, that's quite a leap to assume they did it just because he was an easy target. To get there, you have to assume that none of these kids have any empathy or ethics. That they don't care a lick for their fellow man. I have a hard time believing they weren't motivated by some perceived injustice.

Victims of crime are often picked because they are an easy target. If you were going to mug someone would it be the buff young man leaving the gym or the little old lady fumbling with packages in Macy's parking lot?
Picking an easy target doesn't negate the possibility that the attack was motivated by the ethnic background of the victim.
Both things could have been instrumental in the motivation.
We can only speculate.

I have no theory and won't until there is evidence to support one. As for an obvious motive, the attackers took his money so a motive of robbery isn't entirely out of the question.

I can guess at the motive behind starting this thread and choosing the title.
