If leaders could get smart all would be well.

Not a lot of info on Alex Golt other than he's a big shot in mining in Russia.

This is something that needs to be resolved by referendum, not military action. And this is certainly not something that America needs to be involved in.
Why on earth are angry old farts like McCain beating the war drums when the US military lacks the capability to intervene in a meaningful way. Do they really believe Germany or France will conduct a ground war on their behalf? The same Germany that the US has been pissing on of late?

It's called sabre rattling. Been going on in one way or another since our club shaking days.

Who would participate in your referendum?

'The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!'

"KIEV, Ukraine — A long column of Russian trucks laden with relief supplies rumbled toward war-torn eastern Ukraine on Tuesday, unsettling Ukrainian officials who warned that any attempt by Moscow to deliver humanitarian aid without their consent would be treated as an invasion." WaPo

MOSCOW - Russia further tightened its control of the Internet on Friday, requiring people using public Wi-Fi hotspots provide identification, a policy that prompted anger from bloggers and confusion among telecom operators on how it would work.

You should have a sabre before you try to rattle it. The US no longer has the military capacity to go into a ground water with Russia. Especially over the Ukraine.

The referendum? At least the people in the eastern Ukraine. There is effectively two Ukraines now anyway.

Will Putin use this "humanitarian" convoy as causus belli if Kiev refuses it?

Unless the convoy is another ploy it appears that Ukraine will be united soon.
