A War Tax?

It would be very interesting to see the GOP reaction if wars had to be paid for in real time with tax revenue, rather than pushing it off for generations. They wouldn't know whether to shit or go blind, with their hatred of taxes and fondness of war.

Being 16 trillion in debt I don't think anything will be being paid for in real time for the foreseeable future.

And a fairly substantial part of that debt is from two unfunded wars. Would we have done Afghanistan and Iraq in the same way if Congress had to pass tax hikes to pay for them? The GOP would have tied themselves in knots over it.

If the US was to work on building up our Infrastructure and plan for a future more then now. Investing in all of the young, skills needed to advance our economic engine then the deficit would be non-issue.

You can not cut our way out of the hole we are in. Increasing revenue along with trimming expenditures is a balanced approach. One that being a "no quick fix" will never be attempted.

Somehow, Republicans believe that their bad ideas don't cost money, only Democratic ones do.

I firmly believe that the GOP calculated this or something like it all along. To force cuts to social programs they never wanted. Bankrupt the country then that way cuts will have to be made.

Reagan or Bush the elder, too. I guess the Dems build the treasury and the Repubs empty it.
