#1 Issue for Upcoming Election

A recent NBC poll found that voters felt "Threats to Democracy" to be the #1 issue for the upcoming election. Not good news for the party of fascism.

I sure hope that means Trump has no chance of ending up back in the White House.

It was #1, but basically on a long list. It got 21%, next one down got 18%, etc. So strong consciousness that Democracy is in the balance, which is good, but not an overwhelming concern exactly.

This is vital. Link is to Twitter. Watch David Pepper's video, read the tweet stream some.

The big insight: Democrats and Republicans are fighting two different battles. Democrats are fighting to win elections, mainly at the Federal level. The plan to win and get things done because they have majority support. The Republicans know they do not have majority support, so are fighting a wider, deeper, longer-term fiight to subvert Democracy. They are fighting mainly at the state level, trying to lock in state legislatures one by one. They are winning. We have to engage on this battlefield.

I agree, and it has to start from the top. When you opponent is playing the long game the best defense is a good offense.

Only the party of fascism has convinced it's followers that they are the ones fighting to save democracy. They even have some of their followers ready to die for the fight. So far they haven't convinced any of them to strap on suicide vests in the name of "liberty" tho.

How? And where is the money going to come from to fight these battles?
These states are so gerrymandered that they have absolute majority in their state legislatures. Florida and Texas are a couple of good examples. One led the abortion ban abortion and the other is leading the book ban. So much for democracy.

True, notwithstanding the fact that a favorite mantra of MAGAWorld is "We're not a democracy, we're a republic." Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has said exactly that -“Democracy isn’t the objective; liberty, peace, and prosperity are. We want the human condition to flourish. Rank democracy can thwart that.”

To the extent that democracy threatens their ChristoFascist ambitions, they're more than willing to abandon it.
