I saw the deputy AG is looking into criminal charges on this. I believe it was treason they are considering.
I looked up the definition of treason. It is one of two things. It can be helping aiding, providing comfort to the enemy. Or, it is waging war against the US.

Fact: sending false documents(forgeries I believe) to have the officially appointed state electors changed. This was done with the intent of creating chaos and declaring those states as uncountable. With those votes removed Donald trump would have the majority of electoral votes and by his thinking would then be pronounced president of the US.

So the question, does this action rise to the definition of waging war against the US. I am not sure, but if it had been a foreign government I would think there would be no question. Yes this is an act of war, waging war against the US.

Wouldn't "the U.S." be or include the U.S. government? How else would describe attempting to take over the government? Just because the party attempting a coup were Americans doesn't alter the fact that they were attempting a takeover of our democratic process. If that isn't treason what is?

I feel it is treason. The question is weather or not the justice department determines this to be an act of war against the United States.

'The enemies' adhered-to need not be foreign. Recall that famous phrase in the federal oath of office, that says the Constitution of the United States must be defended "against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

from multiple dictionaries

"an act of aggression by a country against another with which it is nominally at peace."

Another interesting quote
"an act of war is like pornography, you know it when you see it"

Defending the Constitution would also include defending against treason, no? The treason in question would entail violating said Constitution.

I don't disagree with these questions at all. I am just wondering, in a court of law, will his actions actually be defined as treason. Thinking further, if anyone else had done this would they be charged with treason?
