Thanks! First I thought that that I was 25 at 55, Second I was pulling a tote box full of Xmas lites from an over head shelf 8ft. up whilst standing on a stepladder and held on when I should've let go. Sometimes I'm not the sharpest tool at hand....

I assume the sawbones aren't going to operate, but instead are going to make you work it out?

I am some what of an authority when it comes to shoulders. In 1994 I tore my right rotator cuff 98% off. An arthrogram, a surgery to scope the shoulder, and a major surgery to cut the cuff off and reattach it to my arm by embedding it into the bone. One year of very painful physical therapy. Eighteen months before I could lift more than 12oz above my head. Six months before I could lay down to sleep.

The pain was so bad the first day after the surgery I was taking two hydrocodone "10's" and drinking half a fifth of whiskey to fall asleep (pass out) for two hours when I would wake up crying in pain. I am lucky I did not kill myself with the drugs or by suicide.

Do your best to solve your problem with physical therapy. If surgery is necessary find a really good doctor and educate yourself on what exactly is going to be done. Some shoulder surgeries are minor and not hard to recover from. My doctor, who is a very good orthopedic surgeon, rated my surgery on a scale of 1 to 10 as a 9, 10 is if the arm is torn off.

The good news is I have full range of motion now and the pain is manageable.

good luck.

It's amazing, how many people live in real pain. I live by my wits nowadays and don't want to take anything stronger than aspirin at work, and since the nerve blocks usually I get by in the evenings with aspirin and beer if it bleeds through, but sometimes even still.

I was lucky though, the 4th nerve block worked pretty well and it's been 15 years or so.

I'm offended by your offending.

Whatever you do, don't waste your money on 'UM 10'. Good luck.

I know how that goes. A 47 year old friend decided to show off to his fifteen year old son at the skate park and promptly broke his hip. He was out of action for several months. Damn aches and pains seem to keep getting worse with every passing year. I hope they plateau at some point.

They will, just before you die.

I got all of that stuff out of the way as a kid. First hospital stay tonsils and adenoids, second broke my thigh arguing with a truck, last was appendix removed. The two cataracts don't count as that was in and out the same day. Hospitals are no place for sick people.
