So how does that jibe with your statement that if one resorts to fighting they have already lost the argument?

If the only way you can get your child to meet your requirements of behaviour is beating them either your requirements are onerous or you simply are a lousy parent.

If only there were a way to recognize you are going to be a lousy parent, you could just kill your kid before they're born and avoid causing them any stinging pain to the buttocks in the future.

Admittedly with the first one you are simply unskilled labour as I once told my son but then I had the example set by my Father. I rather thought his answer was good when he said to me that he had a lot to do with developing himself.

The problem with spanking isn't that it causes pain, per se. The problem is, spank kids too much and they may grow up to be like you.

Good point, that would be terrible.

So if you have a lousy parent who can only get their child to behave by spanking, and they don't spank, you then have a child that doesn't behave at all. What does he grow up to be like?
