Neat! Never saw such a display.

ON EDIT: It's a defensive display. Trying to get big to scare enemies.

I also read about the fascinating behavior of mobbing. This is a harassment attack made against owls by a bunch of other birds who'd rather not be eaten by one. Mobs, once they get going, are joined by various species--whoever's around. They surround and mess with the owl, but don't actually injure it. Nor does the owl fight back. He just leaves if he's had enough.

The non-violent nature of this anti-owl protest, and the reaction to it, are exemplary.

Nonsense. Your party made it abundantly clear that they put party before country in the midst of the worst economic crisis since '29.

Sure! All the Democrats need to do is agree to let the Republicans dismantle the New Deal, the Great Society and any other effective social programs enacted by the Democrats.

And, as we've seen, this even extends to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The Republican Party is led by and supported by the most hate-filled, bigoted assholes it has ever been my misfortune to encounter. The core objective of their entire agenda is to transform this country into something just short of a feudal state, complete with its own version of a "landless peasantry".

I think the same can be said of "your party", who prioritized the passage of a mess of a healthcare bill at the height of the recession rather than focus on getting the economy moving again.

The ACA is helping millions of people who formerly fell through the cracks in our pay to play health care system and the economy is growing at a near record rate.

So, what was that you were saying?

There's no pleasing a conservative these days. Shit, their holy trinity Citibank just got a big xmas gift and they're still moaning and whining about Obama not hitting the brakes hard enough on that runaway train that GW left him.

I've seen this type of display with the bigger hawk species around here.

Yes, all raptors, except possibly new world vultures, do it. It's called "mantling" and is intended to protect prey/food that they've just taken.

I think I've seen behavior similar to that here.
