Back when I lived in the hood a heat wave brought everyone outside, and cars were not rare but, hard to come by? Now the streets are almost deserted in a heatwave - many folks have AC - and there are far more cars.

The bad news is, there doesn't seem to be government cheese anymore and good Ohio grown sensi is gone. Plus computer controlled cars. There's always a down side

I know all sorts of people.
I've seen folks poor enough that the sum total of their furniture was three old dinette chairs. They mostly lived on the floor.
You can fill your house with garbage for close to nothin', provided you have a vehicle to haul it from the Goodwill to your place. Oops.
Basically, are you saying the Census Bureau is right or "crazy" about the household income numbers since 1999?
