What the attacks on NFL players and owners is really about...

...vidictiveness and payback, like it is with everything for Donald Trump. Because he was rejected for an NFL franchise back in 1984.

Trump will never get an NFL franchise.

Quote:
They arrive, and even before Pete can stop talking on a casual basis, Donald starts his diatribe on how great he (Trump) would be for the NFL, and what it would mean to the NFL to have him as a franchise owner. Donald is going on in his typical style, telling Pete Rozelle what he believes in, why he would be wonderful. It was typical Donald, in that Rozelle couldn't get a word in. When he realized what Trump was after, he turned cold and blunt. "Mr. Trump," Rozelle told him, "as long as I or any of my heirs are involved in the NFL, you will never be a franchise owner in the league.
"The NFL is in a box." - Donald Trump. Totally psychpathologically driven payback for being rejected for NFL team ownership over 30 years ago.

I think that's part of it. Because of this vindictiveness, he was willing to use it to race-bait his base, knowing that he could rally them with his jingoistic bullshit while distracting from his myriad political failures and the Russia investigation.

Trump has been stewing in his own juice over not landing an NFL franchise for over 30 years. This is the sort of thing that haunts him long after some other billionaire would have let it go and settled for an NBA franchise. This is the only sort of thing that is real to him...rejection, lack of adulation, and not getting what he wants.

Winning and doing well doesn't even really do it for him. If it did he wouldn't have to keep telling the world all about his successes and what a gift he is to mankind. If it was he wouldn't have fucked himself up bleating at Roselle about how much better the NFL was gonna be with him as an owner...and screwing himself out of a franchise.

And now in his sick fucking head he's finally getting his payback for 1984...and why he can't just STFU about taking a knee. And yes...getting in some race baiting at the same time.

Yep, vindictiveness, petulance, control.....

All of the Above.

Besides the usual reasons, I also believe this also why the other childish dear leader, Kim Jong Un, loves to taunt him. Two peas in a pod, they are.
