Dysfunctionality is a fairly common trait amongst mental health direct service providers and delivery of the vast majority of goods and services I receive is pretty darn functional.

Spotted on the web. Pretty good analysis.

In a nutshell, Trump supporters are brainwashed. That's not a put-down, but fact. Cult leaders and abusers share many distinct traits. While too many to detail here, the greatest being a narcissistic personality riddled with other traits which actually mask insecurity and shame. A large majority of mental health professionals believe Trump suffers from many of the telltale signs which are indicative of either physical or sexual abuse as a child, and cocaine use later in life, which in turn has developed into an unhealthy need to "regain" his power by abusing those under him as well as an inability to control his emotions.

As with every abuser, he tries to maintain positive attention on himself and oftentimes lies in order to give things a positive spin, which is why he detests the media. The abuser's true power lies in causing the abusee to turn introspective, and so he uses both scare tactics and goading toward negatives, whether those things truly exist or not. The abuser or cult leader generally, as Trump does with his minions, attempts to remove from the abusee's world, anything they cannot control (doesn’t want the abusee to watch certain television shows, read certain publications, speak to certain people, talks badly about the groups/clubs the abusee belongs to, tells the abusee where to go for information, etc.).

The abuser normally tells you they will do one thing, then does another, almost exclusively doing what they planned all along. The abuser will exaggerate, overemphasize, aggrandize, inflate, lie and claim victory over anything they have had a hand in, whether the victory truly exists or not.

The cult leader or abuser will try to incorporate themselves as gods (larger than life idols) in the life of the abusee. The cult leader or abuser will do whatever they can do to force the abusee into compliance while making it seem as if the abusee chose to comply.

Once the delusion is established that the leader or abuser is in control, but wants what is best for the abusee, it is then fueled by a range of maintenance factors which the abuser feeds to the abusee at whatever point they can. Paranoia, for example, which in turn feeds on the feelings of vulnerability created by low self-esteem and worrying, which then generates fearful but implausible ideas to mind exacerbating anxious feelings and a range of subtle perceptual disturbances. The abusee's delusions also thrive on so-called “reasoning biases”, and so are "confirmed", at least in the delusional person's mind, by their delusional thoughts.

The abusee or delusional party must be very carefully extricated from the situation by people close to them, but the first, foremost and most important thing the abusee must do is realize that they may be in a potentially negative and dangerous situation.

Without this realization, they will continue to be easy and gullible prey.

As an addendum, here is a great piece on SHS, his enabler. Spicey was harmless, this woman is brutal, another sociopath.
Quote:
True, she hasn’t told a lie as tidy as Spicer’s ludicrousness about Donald Trump’s inauguration crowds. But her briefings are breathtaking — certainly this week’s were. For some 20 minutes every afternoon, down is up, paralysis is progress, enmity is harmony, stupid is smart, villain is victim, disgrace is honor, plutocracy is populism and Hillary Clinton colluded with Russia if anyone would summon the nerve to investigate her (because, you know, that never, ever happens). I watch and listen with sheer awe.

With despair, too, because Sanders doesn’t draw nearly the censure or ridicule that Spicer did, and the reason isn’t her. It’s us. More precisely, it’s what Trump and his presidency have done to us. Little more than nine months in, we’ve surrendered any expectation of honesty. We’re inured.
I made this very point yesterday, people simply expect SHS to lie for Trump and sadly don't seem to care anymore. When she is challenged, well there is the brilliant fall back position, Fake News.

Donny is mentally ill. He’s also quite stupid, like your typical Fox “News” devotee.

The late William T. Kelley, who taught Trump at the University of Pennsylvania, said, “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddamn student I ever had.” Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter of “The Art of the Deal,” says Trump had “a stunning level of superficial knowledge and plain ignorance.”

Trump has learned one thing well. How-to use shyster lawyers and the fucked up US legal system to buttfuck half the vendors, subcontractors, and partners he's ever done business with. The history is 3500 lawsuits involving him in 40 years of business dealings. That's two new lawsuits per week for 40 years.
