Spain

Such a glorious, beautiful country. Spent many an enjoyable day in Barcelona, Seville, Madrid, Majorca, the Mediterranean coast...

Looks like the populists are wreaking havoc there, as well. Sigh. What is wrong with people these days?

There are too many of us.

I'll be over there in 2 weeks, but avoiding Catalonia. We'll be spending 8 days in Andalusia and 3 more in Lisbon. Looking forward to some good eating.

Oh! While in Lisboa, be sure to experience a Fado house. Late night culture, similar to what I imagine how a small NYC or LA Jazz club must have been in the late ‘50s. Spent three years nearby back in the ‘80s courtesy of NATO. Damn, I envy you! Couple years until retirement, then I’m back to Europe...

Definitely doing some Fado and Lisbon and some Flamenco in Seville and/or Jerez. I've been to these places back in the early '80's and loved them, but haven't been since and my wife has never been. My older son as well as my daughter and son-in-law both took vacations in Andalusia over the past couple of years and loved it too. The Alhambra in Seville is one of the most awesome things I've ever seen. The Seville cathedral and the Mezquita in Cordoba are both great as well.
