I gotta beef...

It's really too bad that I regularly have to look at a nauseating "BP Committed to America" banner when I come in here to play. It's bad enough our local BP operation in NW Indiana is regularly "accidentally" dumping crude directly into our drinking water supply...is dumping mercury into and storing tons of solid refinery waste right on the banks of the Little Calumet River that runs directly into our drinking water supply.

I can't imagine what my reaction would be if I were a resident of the Gulf Coast.

There's been worse up there from the TP fellow-travellers, something to do with the web service friendly related linx fiinder feature or sonesuch.

You gotta love BP--if you liked Standard Oil.

Hey, I grew up in Hammond. I've been in the Little Calumet River. Without permanent ill effect, it seems, surprisingly enough....

If you're BP, it's easier and cheaper to buy ad space than to clean up your operations. Somehow, the Gulf blowout succeeded in overshadowing the catastrophic (and fatal) explosion at the Texas City plant five years earlier in which "BP was charged with criminal violations of federal environmental laws, and has been named in lawsuits from the victims' families. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration gave BP a record fine for hundreds of safety violations, and in 2009 imposed an even larger fine after claiming that BP had failed to implement safety improvements following the disaster. In 2011 BP announced that it was selling the refinery as part of its ongoing divestment plan to pay for ongoing compensation claims and remedial activities following the Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010."

Best bit in the old "Groove Tube" TV satire: a parody PR spot for some stinky industry. You see nothing of industry in the spot, just 30 seconds of beautiful nature footage: mountains, meadows, deer, chipmunks, and a swarmy announcer spouting sensitive, profound bullshit, ending with something like, "...and now, after a decade of effort to make environmental protection a reality, we've produced...this commercial!"

Never mind BP, our local Flicker and Flash has demanded payment of all bills or else. the local PSC is allowing this pending settlement of disputes. Now our last three bills were in excess of $900, $700 and $600 respecttively. You see the PSC allows them to chatge BY THE KILOWATT for delivery. Now whether we burn 2000KWH per month of 9000KWH explain to me how this causes F&F any extra expense?

This AM the bedroom TV was coing nuts the two other computers that were not running had the UPSs beepring and the one on mine kept popping up messages. Stuck a meter on the AC supply and it was all over the place. It seems every spring they change some 'taps' somewhere and this causes the fluctuations. One spring our power hit 149.6 as measured and that cost BG&E two TV sets. Never mind changing taps they ought to be playing taps over BG&E.

Search Google for Adblocker Plus. It stops the banner ads.

You ever seen what goes into the Little Calumet, Pete? I'm surprised he doesn't have a donkey dick growing out of his forehead.

Forehead wasn't exposed. Just the legs. It was winter; fell through ice.

Bioactivity supressed by cold temps, I expect. So there wasn't enough mutation to get me my own comic book.....
