When I first started private practice, I got a call to serve a summons on the "Elk Breeders Association." I was pretty sure that it was an initiation prank for the new guy - I figured Elk took care of that for themselves. But when I showed up at the designated location, there was actual a conference for the Elk Breeders Association in progress.

I have several friends in Idaho Falls, ID, who breed elk. The elk antler (while still in velvet) is highly valuable to orientals for its magic juju and the meat is highly praised and valuable as well to restaurants in the West.

My old man was an Elk.

All he ever did was go to the Lodge to drink and gamble.

He had this ring and tie clip that had B.P.O.E. on it.

He told me it stood for Best People On Earth.
