Dionne is certainly not an independent. That doesn't necessarily make him wrong.

With regard to enacting programs that cost money, I think the whole TARP/bailout extravaganza is the only thing that Obama has done that cost a lot of money. Oops, forgive me. It was Dubya signed it into law in October, 2008. Oh, I forgot those two messy Mideast wars that Obama started. Oops, got that one wrong too.

The actuaries say that the Health Care Reform Bill will actually save money compared to having done nothing (the GOP Health Care option).

Dubya's idea of paying for the wars was to encourage people to go shopping.

The deficit and the economic crisis we now face were inherited from the Republican Holy Trinity of Reagan/Bush/Bush. Say what you will about the way the Obama Administration is trying to deal with it but don't blame Obama for the problem.
