I bought some Silver Bullets in order to whip up some beer batter, and I hate to use anything good.
According to my recipe, I was supposed to open it up and let it go flat, but since it's Coors...

Went to the state fair today. Beer battered fried mushrooms and a reuben with beer braised sauerkraut. Had a couple Black Butte Porters watching the demolition derby, and a couple Alaskan Pumpkin Porters watching Atz Kilcher do an acoustic set.
I'm all good.

The beer batter and kraut were made with very local beer- Arkose Brewery is about a 5 minute walk from the fair. They haven't made it to the tap handles yet, too much competition from Alaska Brewing and the mass market guys, I suppose. The only reason I know it was Arkose is I could see the empty growlers in the kitchen of the food booth.
Black Butte Porter is from Deschutes Brewing in Bend Oregon.
The Pumpkin Porter is a new seasonal offering from Alaskan Brewing in Juneau. It debuted at the fair, and is now available bottled while it lasts.
Just before Thanksgiving the annual batch of Smoked Porter will be released.

Unfortunately, it was mostly catfish. Pulled the wrong bag out of the freezer.

Did it come in a white can with nothing but "BEER" written on it?
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a beer snob. But some of that stuff just doesn't suit my palate. Some of it even makes me sick.
But if you can drink it and enjoy it, I say more power to you. I would if I could.
