I had one of those R series receivers a number of years ago, a lower # model. R451 maybe? It was a fine sounding midgrade receiver, perhaps smoother than my completely rebuilt Marantz 1152dc I was running at the time. I would expect a TOTL one like that to be quite nice.

Yes, it looks to be a sweet unit but it is 30 years old and not all those types have those IC type parts that can be bought nowadays. Maybe somebody that actually knows what they are talking about like Rob can chime in.

You and me both. Right now the only working bits in my stereo are the TT, Blu-ray player and speakers. No pre, cd player. Even my backup old HT receiver went down. I don't have a functioning stereo at all! I can play cds and internet radio on the Blu-ray - through the tv :grr: Still beats nothing. Kinda. Fixed soon I hope.

Stereo shit you have NEVER seen before. A 1960 SABA (Schwarzwälder Apparate Bau) stereo tube receiver built by the factory as a prototype. This item is a priceless unikate, it exists only one time (in my living room). The first regular SABA receiver was offered in 1964. Enjoy the picture!
