Just checked it out, that is one clean beast! A steal at that price! Congrats, Erik!

[QUOTE=Bigerik;93580]Looks like I just bought a Scott 299D over at the other place. Taking a chance, and it is lacking output tubes. But I just couldn't resist.

Back into tubes,eh? There's a guy on eBay gobble75 that's reasonable for tubes.
I'm sitting here looking at a Philco 40-125 that won't light up, time to get the DMM out.

They only draw about 40 watts each so not expensive to operate and it keeps them warm in winter.

I have to admit, if you caught me in a trap, and took me to some brute and had me "fixed", it would be a while before I trusted you as well.

You know, for all the time I stay on AK, I always miss the good deals! Can't believe I finally got one.
Sad about that dickhead engraving his name on the faceplate. Like the back panel wouldn't have worked?

Thanks for the tip.
I'm undecided which way to go for output tubes. NOS sounds great (if there is any such thing actually), but the 7591 can be kind of a flakey tube. Might just go for the EH's. Last time I checked they were like $80 for a quad. As much as I hate sending my dollars to China...

Actually, it was his SS number. Bad enough.
ANd I bet that's the name on his card.

Oops!
Wrong commies. Just double checked and EH tubes are made in Russia.

JJ's sound better in my 1000A. Used to they supposedly had quality issues, but I've run several sets of JJ 7591's in various receivers and amps with only one failure do to an internal short.
I really like the JJ 6L6GC. I think it exhibits a better overall sound than even the Winged "C", but that could be system based.
