Their reaction is pretty predictable, methinks. They'll be pretty butt-hurt. I'm not sure what I think about it. I'm in favor of a higher minimum wage, but $10.10 seems pretty arbitrary to me. The minimum wage should be set such that a full time employee earns enough to not qualify for Federal welfare assistance of any sort. As it is, the taxpayer is subsidizing McDonalds, Walmart, etc. by paying hundreds of millions annually in some sort of public assistance to their employees.

Hope you don't mind me saying I think that's an excellent way to look at it.

I'm for making a modest increase, but tying that rate to inflation. Then leave it at that. No more arbitrary increases.

It's just flat out wrong that some of these employers are telling employees to go on the social safety net. And don't try to tell me they're not, my sister sat through a meeting at her place of work where employees were told exactly that, by management.

It's only for gubmint contractors in future contracts. Roughly 250,000 workers will be getting this and it can be shot down by any future prez due to it being an executive order. Color me nonplussed. It'll be interesting to see which of the screaming memes will be a'screeching about the IMPERIAL Presidency run amok. The klown kar posse will be burning up the airwaves tomorrow methinks.

I'm much more interested in the new farm bill, I guess that's fodder for another thread.

I tried to bring this up but all I got was bashing.

We are all fucked and have been since they changed the way they calculate inflation.

Quite a few years ago they used to calculate it by all consumer goods.

They then decided not to include all energy cost, Electricity,Petrol, Home gas/heating.

This move lowered the rate of inflation to theoretically false numbers. Most of our living expenses are energy and the cost has tripled.
Not to mention most peoples raises they get at work are based on the these false rates of inflation.

So two fold everything cost more and a rais does not keep up with inflation. So a workers income is going backwards.

And now they what to do it again because the baby boomers are starting to collect SSI.

By the way don't look at it politically it's economics.
