If I still lived in Seattle, I'd feel a lot differently about it. Of course, I'd also probably be in jail for not wearing a mask for the last two years. I only visited there three times and it almost came to that. Never had to wear a mask, though.
Regarding the poll, my take is that the only polls that matter are the ones taken in the few days before the election. That's when reality will verify their accuracy. Back in 2016, one company (I forget its name) actually showed, the day before the election, Trump winning. I remember it so well because an hour later that figure was taken down and they reverted to showing Hillary winning. If only they had stuck with their actual results, they would have been like Peter Schiff predicting the housing crash. But they chickened out.
I need to add that only a poll of electors counts in a presidential election. What if Kamala is way ahead of Trump, but only because pretty much "everyone" in California and New York choose her, while people in the rest of the country choose the person she's running against? The electoral college will level that off pretty fast. That's why we don't democratically elect presidents. It keeps large states from overrunning smaller ones in the election. We are a constitutional republic. The only thing polls are good for is to give the candidates a feel for how their message is playing at any given time. To the rest of us they are meaningless.
And not to put too fine a point on it, elections are like long distance running races. Who is ahead in the beginning has little to do with who will actually win. It's about endurance, not peaking too early, and keeping your stamina up to the end of the race. Unless you work for a candidate, I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to polls.
*I'm only partly joking there.
