“The great irony of this tragic spill in Arkansas is that the transport of tar sands oil through pipelines in the US is exempt from payments into the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund. Exxon, like all companies shipping toxic tar sands, doesn’t have to pay into the fund that will cover most of the clean up costs for the pipeline’s inevitable spills.”
http://thinkprogress.org/climate/201...-cleanup-fund/

So any of this Arkansas tar sand stuff is probably on the taxpayer and so would be Keystone.
And even if we fine them enough to cover it they will do like Alaska, Exxon could delay it for 14 years until it gets to the SCOTUS who reduces the fine by 90% as they did in the Valdez spill.

Nearly two decades of legal battles over the Exxon Valdez oil spill came to an end yesterday when the Supreme Court slashed the punitive damages imposed against Exxon Mobil from $2.5 billion to $500 million.

Dollars to donuts.... Exxon/Mobil will offset expenses and get a tax refund. Corporatocracy at work.
BTW, there is still tonnage of that spill just 18" under the beaches all through the sound. Cleaned up? My ass!

Are there cartoons about filling up the car and outrage over food prices? Cue Pogo.

'Genetically modified campaign contributions' LOL!
