Explosion in Texas

A fertilizer plant in Texas has just exploded, near Waco. A lot of casualties are feared. This looks really bad.

The assault on Waco happened 20 years ago, this coming Friday. Weird coincidence?

Oh mercy, this must be bad. Look how far this guy was from the fire. The blast nearly took him and his kid out. I feel sorry for the poor kid and cant imagine how bad it must be where it happened.

That was horrific, man. I hope they are alright. It reminded me of that Morton Thiokol rocket fuel plant blast outside of Las Vegas (similar chemical). Wasn't there a Texas town that was blown up by another fertilizer explosion in a bulk carrier ship?

Just how stupid were the city planners who placed apartments and a nursing home next door to the plant?. Bet there was plenty of other places around there available.

I've been following this all night. Estimated 60-70 dead, God rest their souls.
There were images of an entire apartment building flattened. The power of that blast was immense. Terrible, just terrible.

Where I grew up there was a fertilixer and nitro-cellulose plant across the river. The semi automated huts where they mixed the nitro had tall earth berms around them. When one exploded everything went skyward - unfortunately it also had to come down. Friends were sitting in their kitchen on our side of the river when BOOM then later a one foot diameter boulder came through the roof and ceiling. Fortunately it missed everyone.

For working in the fertilizer section thehad these beautiful looking all wood shovels as even a spark would send the fertilizer dust exploding. Guess I was foolhardy, I used to look after their PBX.
