A GOP National Security expert traveling with the Trump entourage just said this to a WSJ reporter:

"Had to apologize to a European defense attaché just now. 'I'm sorry. He's an idiot.'"

Per same source, European counterparts are "not in a forgiving mood." Especially w/ Russia set for a massive "exercise" in the Baltics.

I told this quote to a close AK friend - close friend for many years - (and Trump devotee, unfortunately) in a private message today. Although I am familiar with his political attitude, his reply was simply shocking. Such a quantity of ignorance is simply shocking.

I consider to quote his reply here, but I do not know if I can actually do this, even if I do not mention his name. He never joins this forum, by the way.

Don or Bob, tell me if I can do that. It is an authentic document of the current mindset of a typical Trumpist.

Chris I like to think of you as a friend, like the friend I had in Nurnberg who sadly was killed in an auto accident, she was a very good person. Met lots of good people in Nurnberg, Munchen, Rothenberg, Frankfurt. If I was not so damn old and did not hate flying I would probably be over there.

There is an expectation that private messages will be private. I say proceed only if 1) you offer absolutely no more clues to the person's identity, and 2) you paraphrase rather than quote directly.

Trump is an ignorant blowhard. Most German cars are made in the good ol' USA. We even export them to other countries.

VW, Mercedes Benz, and BMW all have assembly plants in the USA. IIRC many of the M/B's are even exported. Maybe somebody could twitter Donald Dumbass and tell him to quit watching Fox News.
