THE NYT doesn't have cajones, it's desperate for readership. When that occurs, you pander to the perceived base. Darth Cheney isn't going to be prosecuted nor should he be (not that I am a fan of Enhanced Interrogation). Even if you believe (erroneously) that Cheney acted criminally, I'd invite you to think strategically, not tactically: this is a Gerald Ford situation at best.

But, of course, there was no U.S. illegality here as the DOJ itself provided cover for EI providing CIA operatives with legal authorization for techniques including forced nudity, waterboarding, sleep deprivation and stress positions. Sadly, I believe the CIA likely misrepresented the scope and (lack of?) effectiveness of the program to the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, which provided the legal authorizations, and much worse occurred.

That's an issue but, again, it's not Cheney's.

Is he Darth Cheney? Yes. Do I like him? No. Do I like any of this? Not particularly.

But the NYT is weak (and apparently dumb) for even suggesting the idea. That's why this was posted as an opinion piece and not a facts driven expose.

That you're a poor excuse for a human being regarding this issue comes as no surprise to anybody considering your approval of street trial and execution by emotionally disturbed cops.

I'm not here to debate with you Zeke. I found out some time ago that as far as your participation is concerned, I'm primarily here to point out what a sick fuck you are. Debating with you is like debating with Hannibal Lecter.

If Zeke feels he's in the right, Zeke is free to do to another human being whatever gets him off.

And...it appears that law enforcement is free do take whatever violent action needed to uphold the law in their jurisdiction. That is...unless they're Jews.

Makes me think of a story about Albert Schweitzer, he asked young native to lend a hand moving something. The native who had been to a university replied that he was an intellectual and could not do manual tasks. Schweitzer replied that he himself had always aspired to be an intellectual and moved the object all by himself.

In addition Schweitzer was an excellent organist and I used to have a couple of his records since I have always prreferred classical music and especially the King of instruments.
