He certainly has a way of weaving words. Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out just exactly what he is saying.

You mean you have figured out some of his lyrics??

"Watching the Detectives" was another head-scratcher.

I have to agree with you there, Dave. Elvis suffered a rough spot trying to transition into "serious" music (I was never able to get into the Juliet Letters, but apparently he has written some music for the National Ballet). Through it all, he retains a tremendous sense of humor. (Check out the Youtube video of him hosting the Letterman show) He must have something going for him to have reeled in Diana Krall.

D-Ray

Big Costello fan here. The first time I saw him (~1978) in a small club in New Orleans, I was expecting an Elvis impersonator - really. Needless to say, he was great and I was hooked. I moved to Germany shortly thereafter and he was really popular over there.

The last time I saw him was in ~2003 after releasing the When I Was Cruel album. He was with the Imposters, not the Attractions, but Steve Nieve was still there on keyboards (essential). It was still great.

He comes here (Wolf Trap) every year, it seems. Lately, it's been in a style different from the Attractions/Imposters and I haven't been interested in seeing him.

Love me some Elvis.
